OK…I’m NOT Competitive….but
So this Channel 7 A-list contest is so COOL! I am in 4th place out of many many photographers – and it means that the amazing people I have come to know over the last few years are voting for me. AND the reviews are awesome!
I’m very excited……the contest ends in September, so who knows where I’ll end up….but for now, 4th place is pretty cool.
On a side note….11 days til Cancun.

Cancun BABY
So my sister and I haven’t taken a vacation – as adults…..EVER
The time has come…..in less than 2 weeks we are headed to Cancun BABY!!! Just put me near the ocean with a cool beverage and I am set for some serious vegging out!
Now…..mind you I have booked myself with weddings and photo shoots up to the day before I leave…..this Saturday, next Friday for Senior Portraits and Family Portraits, the following Saturday, then Friday and Saturday before I leave. Am I CRAZY?? Well, yes, I believe I am sometimes.
But it’s fun.

Weddings Weddings
Hi everyone!!
Boy it has been a busy week – my Aussie couple and I headed to Red Rocks for engagements photos – FUN, then Mr and Mrs. Leyba followed with their wedding on the 28th, the Graeber’s on the 3rd of July and Natasha and Steve on the 4th!! I’m pooped…..but am having a blast!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY COUPLES…..
The Butterfield wedding is this Saturday – then on Sunday – my sister and I are taking a spa day – what fun!

It’s PRIDE in Denver

Ever Seen “While You Were Out?”
It’s that crazy show where you take someone’s house and do massive changes in a short period of time.
Well – my dear love suggested we do this for her parents – while they were gone for a week visiting the other sisters. After today, I have serious concerns about whether we should just be gutting the whole show and setting it on fire for the insurance money….OMG – it’s like a pandoras box – you move one thing, there’s a hole, or a stain, or ……..the house is very old, and so are mom and dad – but they are not willing to move – live in your house, die in your house.
I must reallllly love my girl – and our friends Bonnie, Jeremy, Robin and the guys must really love us! They are helping with the job.

Weddings Galore!
Well….I asked for it – more work!! I am so blessed to have 12 weddings to photograph from now until October. WOW!
Last weekend my friends Mo and Martin were married and are now sunning themselves in St. Lucia….CONGRATS!
My hair is growing back – the kids raised $2500 and Esther shaved the noggin. Just in time for summer.

Head Shaving
As a fundraiser for my school I am in a contest with my Head of School as to who can collect the most funds for a “Shave Off”. The community will choose who they want to see with a shaved head by dropping donations into a named jar for the next 3 weeks.

Business Ethics
Ok….remember how excited I was about gay5280.com?? Well in less that 2 months – they took my money for advertising, fell through on their promises, didn’t return my emails, and NOW are selling the rights to the domain name and logo and their website is gone. Talk about poor business ethics!! I read about this Marco guy before I met him – after googling him there was a lot of disgruntled people that “used” to work with or for him. NOW I know why! What a bummer that I keep running into people with such poor business ethics. Perhaps I need to work on my karma. Marco – I hope you didn’t take other people for the ride you took me, and if you did – may the karma goddess frown down upon you. What you did was wrong and not any representation of the Colorado gay community!

Puerto Vallarta
Ahhhhh….a vacation. The wife and I headed to Puerto Vallarta for some much needed down time. It was beautiful and serene. Great for some pictures – check em out in the Nature catagory!! Now, it’s back to business.

Weddings Galore!
All my friends are getting married! Makes me want to do it all over again. Congrats to Debbie & Andrew, Sonya & Patrick, and Sara & Jason! What beautiful ceremonies you all had, each so unique! Thanks for letting me be a part. Mo and Martin…..congrats on your engagement, see you in April!
End of the school year is fast approaching. Summer is almost here in full swing. The wife and I are headed to Puerto Vallarta at the end of June. Before the PV trip, I am going to New York to see my little brother graduate from the Merchant Marine Academy and in August it’s Melaleuca Convention time. Lots of traveling….lots of pictures!

Spring Break
I ended up taking Spring Break a week later than the rest of the school. BOY did I need to get out of town.
Went to Buena Vista with the wife and dog…..beautiful time. Sat in the hot springs and had a GREAT massage by Shelly. If you are ever in BV stop by Cottonwood Hot Springs and book a massage with Shelly….it is worth every penny.
Back to the grind on Tuesday, one more day of relaxation, except for that dentist visit tomorrow morning…ugh.

Time flies…
Again, I haven’t written in a while, nor have I kept up with my photography. I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I have been so consumed with my “real” job that I have forgotten how much fun it is to photograph a wedding or snap some shots of a couple in love. I guess I miss it. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my job with Montclair, it’s just been a LOT of work over the last 5 months.
Have done some pictures for the graduating 8th graders at school, as well as a couple teachers and their family photos. At least that is some thing!!

Haven’t Scooped in a while
Been a while since I’ve scooped. Changed my “real” job and am now working at Montclair Academy as the Business Manager. Magnificent change for me….the people at Montclair are amazing! Engagement pics for Deb and Andrew…..CONGRATS! Family pics for the Thompsons and the Barnwells. Pictures of furniture, headshots, and a Christmas party round out the year. Looking forward to a January wedding, and Band photos for my friend Cara Cantarella’s new CD due out in the Spring.

Antero Hot Springs
My wife and I went to Antero Hot Springs for our vacation. If you EVER come to Colorado to vacation, or you live here, you MUST go to these Springs. Private rustic cabin, complete with amenities, kitchen, fireplace, comfy bed, toilet, shower. BUT the best part is that you have your own private soaking tub. Hot Springs right at your doorstep. Go whenever you like, but at night, relax and look up…..nothing but the Milky Way.

Paws at the Park and Botanic Gardens

Colorado Rockies Bark in the Park
Contacted by Charlotte Reed (charlottereed.com) to photograph Bark in the Park @ the July 31st Colorado Rockies game. Charlotte is an international pet expert….great person by my book AND she loved my Batman….so she is an instant friend!
Owners gather at the game on Monday with their pets! There will be a table located at the stadium and we’ll be taking pictures and conducting interviews! Sounds like a BLAST!

Opening in Boulder
Thanks to Dr. Martin (eheh that’s kinda funny) for the opening…tomorrow, Thursday, July 20th! It is in Boulder @ 1610 Canyon in the Dental Suite. This is Dr. Martin’s new practice and my photos are gracing his walls. I am totally excited! Come by and check em out….perhaps, shall I dare jinx myself….buy one?
I beg, because Tina’s car just went in the shop (mine got out last month to the tune of $4000) and the total so far is $500. OY!
The opening will be a great time. HEY….if you live in Boulder and don’t have a teeth guy, I recommend Dr. Martin….coolest dentist you will meet, state of the art facility and equipment!!

Been A While
Well, it’s been a while since I have written. I was right about feeling blah about the product shoot I did…..it wasn’t what the client expected. Bummer….I hate that people feel poorly about my work. On a happy note, Dr. Donovan Martin in Boulder is hanging 7 of my works in his new office off of Canyon in Boulder (Canyon Dental) The grand opening is July 20th! If you are in Boulder, come on by, see some stuff, have some BBQ, and get yourself a new Dentist!! It’ll be tons of fun!

Feeling Blah
I am having the blahs about a shoot I did. Guess it is part of the learning curve when you think you did a great job and the client doesn’t feel the same way….or at least that’s the impression I got. Bummer!
On a happier note….I did meet a great girl and future plus size model, Barbara. Beautiful inside and out…enjoyed the shoot and had a great time!

Why do people take advantage of others?
Again….I am disappointed in myself and a client. Why people take advantage of others I’ll never know. I spend three hours with this girl doing promotional shots, traveling, etc. on three different days. When it came to pay….she said “I only have this much right now and will get you the rest tomorrow”. I should have known at that point that she wasn’t going to give me the rest. What a waste of my time….I just hate that. UGH!
OK….shake it off….move on!

Playin Hookey
You know….I don’t know if that is how you spell Hookey….oh well!
The BIG boss is away for a couple days and I haven’t had a vacation in a couple years so I have been working very very little these last couple of days. Instead, I’ve taken the camera out and shot some of the great Colorado summer!

New Dog
We got a new dog! She is amazing! We got her from the Misha May Foundation AND I got a photo op at their annual event!! (see below) Her name is Honey (the dog) and Tina and I are blessed to have her as the newest member of the family. OF COURSE I have taken lots of pictures and she even has her own webspage at dogster.com (search for her name and Denver as the city)
Photographing the Avon Breast Cancer walk next week for Multiply….what a great event that will be. All Staff Mtg Photos
So word has spread that I have been doing photos for some of my co-workers. Today is the all staff meeting for my company and I am shooting pics for two co-workers after the morning session….seems weird to be packing up my camera for a day at my “real” job. Perhaps this is a precusor to where I’ll be later in life…..packing up the camera to go to work.

My first official kudos
I got the nicest card from the Clark’s!! It reads “we’re so thankful for the beautiful photos, you made them perfect and we’re forever grateful” She also said I was the best photographer ever…. I think I have a long way to go to be the best EVER….but in their eyes I did my job to the best of my ability and they were thankful. It is so rewarding to have that effect on someone just by doing something you love.

People’s Fair and Relaxing
This weekend is the Capitol Hill People’s Fair in Denver. Great opportunity to snap photos of people having a great time….I am really looking forward to it. PLUS, my friend Todd Helvig will be on the North Broadway stage at 10am performing his heart out….if you’re in Denver, come out and take in the sites.
Kinda bummed about a wedding I booked in February. Lesson learned the hard way I guess. Talked to the very nice bride, agreed on a date, price, etc. Sent mutiple contracts via email and never heard anything from her….finally got her on the phone, she had to “call me back real quick” and I never heard from her. So, the wedding I had on the books is not….I think. So confusing!! I will call next week Monday and hopefully talk to her, otherwise, leave a message with confirmation that my services are not available for her wedding since there is no contract in place. This is my first incident like this and I am trying to make sure I do the “right” thing. Any comments are welcomed.

Memorial Day…YEAH
I am SOOOO happy for a weekend off! I have been working the past 3 weekends in one capacity or another and I am looking forward to vegging…well, gardening too. Market with a Heart was GREAT! Met a lot of great people. Booked a wedding and a booth for the Christmas in the Country Craft Fair in December…even sold some prints. Hope you all enjoy your new found art!
I have been doing some family portraits lately (see portrait section) and really enjoying it. Colorado is the perfect place for great outdoor photos. I have never found a dull background!!!

Red Rocks
What was going to be AWESOME….turned out different. I was suppose to shoot band promos at the world famous Red Rocks. Had a permit for the stage and everything. Turns out that the staff double booked our permit with a wedding so we were forced to go find another space.
We did, and the shoot ended up being great!! Here’s to other people’s mistakes….thanks Red Rocks! Cara Cantarella and her band were great….we went and saw them play Saturday evening…the music was uplifting and inspiring. Catch a show if you can….www.caracantarella.com
